FAQ
How do I make a testing plan for junior year?
High school juniors should carefully map out their standardized testing plan for this crucial year. Students will take some combination of the PSAT, the SAT* (often taken more than once), the ACT*, Subject Tests, and AP* Exams. When HSPAs, midterms, and final exams are factored in, students may find themselves testing every month! Plan ahead, consider extracurricular activity schedules, and set completion goals.

What's the difference between the SAT* and the ACT*?
The SAT* is a logic and reasoning test, while the ACT* is an aptitude test. On the SAT*, students will have to apply content knowledge as well as tricky reasoning in order to solve a problem, whereas on the ACT*, questions are more straightforward.

Think of the SAT* as a crossword puzzle, and think of the ACT* as a high school final exam. The challenge of the SAT* is its trickiness, while the challenge of the ACT* is content knowledge and pacing (the ACT* requires students to work at a faster pace).

The SAT* tests students on mathematics, reading, and writing, and scores total 2400. The ACT* tests students on all these same areas plus science (although the science is not Biology or Chemistry-based, rather the test is more like reading comprehension with scientific passages), and scores total 36.
Do you offer SAT* and ACT* prep?
At Anderson Tutoring Center, families can opt for SAT prep or SAT with ACT prep (dual program). We also offer an ACT vs SAT pretest designed to determine which test is better for your student.
My student is taking the SAT for a second (or third) time. What should they do to prepare?
Private Lessons: For students looking for more intensive instruction on areas of weakness, our tutors can work with students privately, depending on tutor availability. These one-on-one sessions hone and perfect individual skills so that students can improve scores from previous tests. Please contact us for information/tutor availability.

An Independent Study Plan: This free program is for more self-disciplined students who can follow a prescribed and independent course of study and practice. Download the Study Plan.
